Description
Hugged in the folds of the Vredefort Dome Bergland, this tranquil little guest farm, Knopberg, provides comfortable self-catering accommodation and entertains visitors with unique views of the Vaal River Valley, beautiful sunsets, a variety of indigenous trees and a range of local birds. Knopberg borders the Vaal River and is in close proximity to the historical town of Venterskroon, where gold was mined towards the end of the 19th Century.
The main building, The Shepards Tree Family Unit, comprises 4 double rooms each with doors opening to the outside, a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious living room with a fireplace and large windows that bring nature inside the house. Authentically renovated, the original farmhouse, Lemon Blossom Farmhouse, has 3 double rooms, 2 bathrooms, and a doll-like kitchen that connects with the small living room that leads to a patio with a mountain view. The Honey Bush Cottage is a cosy cottage for 2 with a romantic bathroom and an open-air shower. Each unit has a separate braai area.
The original farm dam now serves as a swimming pool.
A 2 km Tree Trail provides different vistas and has clearly identified indigenous trees. A unique feature of Knopberg is a trail with secluded areas among whispering indigenous trees where visitors can withdraw for meditation or prayer.
