Description

Staples House is a large 2-level family holiday home set on the water's edge in Malagas. Malagas is a settlement on the banks of the Breede River framed by the Potberg Mountain range, 30 km south-east of Swellendam and 280 km or a 2 and a half hour drive from Cape Town. Staples House is one of those rare finds on the Breede River, a well-equipped and functional house with all the bells and whistles you might need with sprawling lawns and a beautiful lapa at the edge of the Breede River.

The house is set up for large groups with plenty of entertainment including darts, ping pong table, sup, canoe, 2 braai areas, one on the banks of the river and the other at the house. There are large rolling lawns with hammocks swinging from the many trees where you can relax. You can spot all sorts of bird life during the day and star gaze at night.

The house is set out over 2 levels. The first level is a massive space that has a queen-size bed and 2 single beds in it. There is an extra-large shower in the bathroom. This room opens up on to the garden. The access to this is via the stairs off the main deck and not through the house. There is also an outside shower.

The second level features an open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining area with a fireplace which opens up on to the deck. There are 3 rooms upstairs; the main room contains a king-size bed, a TV, a fireplace, and a shower en suite with a toilet and washbasin. This room also opens onto the deck. The second bedroom contains a queen-size bed, and the third bedroom contains 2 bunk beds that sleep 4. These 2 rooms share a bathroom with a shower, bath, toilet and sink. In the kitchen there is a fridge-freezer and a spare fridge under the deck that gives you plenty of space for large groups, as well as a dishwasher, washing machine and a Bluetooth speaker.

There is an outside entertainment area close to the water in the shade and surrounded by trees and reeds. You can enjoy a braai or laze around this area all day hopping in and out of the water or swinging on a hammock.

The house has its own private jetty to tie up your boat, fish and swim off. There is a slip way on the property that is shared with the neighbours. There is ample parking in the driveway for about 10 cars.
