Description
Matroosbergstasie Karoohuisies is a lovely piece of heaven situated in the countryside only 27 km from De Doorns. Matroosberg Karoohuisies is an out-of-service train station and is now part of a working sheep and cattle farm. The farm is completely independent of power and water networks and tries to live environmentally friendly along with nature.
Accommodation on the farm comprises 3 lovely self-catering cottages each furnished with comfortable beds, a bathroom fitted with a shower, a well-equipped kitchen, a cosy lounge area and a patio. All linen, bath and swimming towels are supplied.
The farm offers a communal swimming pool and Lapa with hang mats where guests can sit back relax and get
lost in a book. The farm also features its own outdoor shooting range of 1.3 km. Anything from air rifles to .50 calibres is welcome.
De Doorns lies on the main route to and from Cape Town, Johannesburg and Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and is a town full of cultural heritages. Nearby activities include wine tasting, hiking, cycling, 4x4 routes and bird watching.
