Description

The Memel Hotel is located in the picturesque eastern Free State town of Memel and is owned and managed by Rudi and Sarinda. The hotel is situated 2 and a half hours east of Johannesburg and 47 km’s from Newcastle on the R34.

Accommodation is available in 7 guest suites which are able to accommodate between 2 and 4 adults, and are each individually styled and furnished. Each room contains an en-suite bathroom and tea- and coffee-making facilities

There is a lively bar and restaurant with a big screen TV and a lovely fireplace for those cold winter evenings. The non-smoking dining area with communal TV leads into a cosy lounge seating 16 guests. Both venues have a fireplace. An a la carte menu is available with delicious meals to suit all palettes

Outside is a lovely garden to relax in and read a book with a private braai area. In addition, a communal braai area for bigger groups is available. For those special occasions, a spit braai facility is available. Catering for small weddings and similar functions are available.

Off-road maps and GPS settings can be arranged for the off-road motorcycle enthusiasts with over 600 km of dirt road rides including 5 mountain passes. Hiking trails, mountain bike routes, and fishing dams for bass/carp and yellow fish are also available.

For keen birders, there is the Seekoeivlei Nature Reserve, a RAMSA site, which at present has lovely bird hides and walkways.
