Description

Mermaid Guest House's name is derived from the Dutch slave ship Meermin which suffered from a mutiny by its slave passengers and eventually ran aground off the coast of Struisbaai in 1766. Our guest house is situated in the picturesque town of Struisbaai, almost at the tip of Africa and very close to the site where the Meermin ran aground 243 years ago.

We offer our guests with all the hospitality of the Overberg. Mermaid Guest House offers single, double, twin and family accommodation in Stuisbaai and is fully equipped with every necessary amenity, facilities and services to make the stay an unforgettable experience. The guesthouse is a bed & breakfast only.

We are within a 400 m walking distance from the main swimming beach as well as all other amenities in town. Guests can visit our famous working lighthouse, the historical harbour and the southernmost tip of Africa where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet.

For the more adventurous person, there is whale and dolphin watching, deep sea fishing, kite and windsurfing, and the Spookdraai and Rasperpunt hiking trails. We also cater for nature lovers and welcome bird watchers, as well as anyone wanting to discover the beautiful proteas and fynbos.
