Description
Millwood Manor is a self-catering, rustic yet homely old farmhouse that is steeped in history dating back to the mid 1800's. The house is located on a private farm, situated approximately 12 km from the town of Klipplaat. The farmhouse is ideal for a large group of 27 persons looking for a venue for a family/friends gathering or team building away from the city.
This spacious home comprises 7 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. There are 3 toilets, 3 showers and 2 baths . The main bedroom is furnished with 1 double bed, and a cot; the second room is equipped with 2 single beds and a double bed; the third room has 2 single beds and 1 double bed; the fourth and fifth rooms each contain 2 single beds; the sixth room has 3 single beds and 1 double bed, and the 7th bedroom has 6 single beds with an extra 2 single beds that serve as a corner couch . There is an extra double mattress in storage should there be a need for it.
The well-equipped kitchen contains a large fridge, freezer, microwave and stove with an oven. There is a gas bottle and ring in case of power outages. Paraffin lamps and candles are also available for this. There is a wide variety of kitchenware, crockery and cutlery available. The dining room has a 14-seater dining table, and the lounge has seating for 17. There is a lovely fireplace! The living area leads into a bar, which has a door leading out to the undercover braai area. There is a separate fire pit. There is a fenced in swimming pool with a second braai area.
Guests can pre-arrange Karoo lamb chops, homemade kudu sausage, and delicious homemade pot bread or roosterbrood, at a cost. Extra fire wood is available @R50/ bag. There is plenty of space around the house and in the extended yard for children to safely ride their bikes.
Mountain bikers can also freely explore the many roads in the area. There are also plenty of farm roads and animal tracks on the farm. There are 5 marked routes on the farm. These range from a 11km route to a 60km route. There are maps available in the house. These can also be seen on our website. Guests are welcome to go for walks on the farm and we hope you see the indigenous game such as kudu, duiker, steenbokkie and mountain reedbuck, that roam freely on the farm.
There are also springbuck and impala in a camp nearby. For the avid bird watchers; there are plenty of birds and ducks around the farms, at the dams and rivers. A birding group identified 100 different bird species when they came for a weekend at Millwood about 3 years ago.
There are no distractions like Wi-Fi but there are the intriguing night sounds of nature, bright starlit skies and stunning sunsets; making the farm a lovely place to unwind away from city life. A TV with a USB port for downloaded movies can be arranged on request.
