Mont d’Or Swartberg Hotel is a charming Victorian hotel, situated in the heart of the quaint Karoo village of Prince Albert.

Established as a hotel in 1864, the Swartberg is now one of 19 national monuments in the village and is still the only hotel in Prince Albert today. It is the ideal place to enjoy the vast open expanses of the Karoo's breathtaking natural beauty and a night sky filled with stars so bright you’ll have to see them for yourself to believe it.

The Mont d’Or Swartberg Hotel offers guests a choice of rooms in the main building, as well as cottages set in the tranquil garden. Each of the spacious rooms is comfortably furnished with an elegant Victorian feel, and the cottages overlook the gardens.

The hotel features a large Victorian Dining Room where you can enjoy an a la carte menu of delicious local dishes. The on-site coffee shop serves both residents and guests breakfast and lunch. If you would like to relax after a long day, join us for a drink at our Ladies Bar, and when there’s a rugby game on, you’ll find it filled with plenty of locals.

The Karoo is known for its dry, hot summer days, which means the hotel would simply not be complete without a swimming pool to cool off in. Take a dip or lounge in the shade with a nice cold drink from the Ladies Bar. Guests will have access to the hotel’s in-house gym to get in your daily workout, or you can treat yourself to a massage at the Swartberg Hotel Spa.

Prince Albert is easily accessed from the N1 and is the perfect stopover if you are travelling between Cape Town and the interior of South Africa. The road to Prince Albert from the N2 is a little longer, however, the magnificent sights of Meiringspoort or the Swartberg Pass are truly breathtaking, and a chance to experience either should not be missed.
