A perfect weekend destination from Cape Town, Mount Ceder in the Cederberg Mountains offers visitors a host of exciting accommodation and activity options. In a valley, surrounded by rugged and interestingly dramatic mountains, Mount Ceder is found on the main route through the Cederberg range.
On offer are beautiful self-catering cottages sleeping between 2 and 6 guests. All cottages are fully equipped with linen, towels, cutlery, crockery, a fridge, stove and microwave. There is an indoor fireplace and a braai area outside each cottage. Mount Ceder also offers 3 campsites situated far apart to give plenty of privacy. Guests are required to bring their own tents and camping gear, and each campsite has its own ablution facilities.
For those who do not want to cater for themselves, there is a restaurant with sumptuous meals. Dinners are a 3-course set menu and need to be booked 24-hours in advance. Activities include canoeing, hiking, bird-watching and swimming in the river. In addition to the opportunities for hiking and swimming on the property, Mount Ceder is also within driving distance of many other of the Cederberg attraction and various 4x4 routes.
The Cederberg region is only 2 and a half hours from Cape Town and yet the landscape is completely different from that of the Mother City; wilder and warmer with raw, dramatic beauty.
