Description

Mountain Splendour Eco-Resort is a family-owned and operated resort situated on a tranquil farm, which offers excellent camping and caravan sites. The resort is located in the spectacular Champagne Valley region of central Drakensberg, and boasts fantastic views of the majestic peaks.

Accommodation at Mountain Splendour Eco-Resort offers 60x Camping or Caravan sites, 10x Glamping Tents, 3x 4-Sleeper Log Cabins. and 2x 6-Sleeper Log Cabins.

Each Camping or Caravan site is a raised gravel 8-by-8-metre site that has an electricity point and a braai area. Each site has access to communal ablution and laundry facilities. Each Glamping Tent is equipped with twin beds fitted with linen, and each tented stand features a bar fridge, lights, a microwave, and a selection of crockery; these tents have access to either private or shared ablution blocks. The Log Cabins can accommodate up to 6 persons, and each cabin comprises 2 or 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and a well-equipped kitchen and living area that opens onto a deck. The Log Cabins boast air-conditioning and heating.

In addition, Mountain Splendour’s facilities include a delightful children’s playground, a swimming pool, tennis and volleyball courts, dartboards, a table tennis table, and large open lawns for playing games such as soccer, cricket or even throwing your frisbee.

Another favourite for the kids is visiting the extensive animal farms such as ponies, donkeys, goats, pigs and geese. For those wanting some tranquillity, there are numerous secluded picnic spots, walking trails and a natural pool at the river that meanders through the farm. For the adventurous souls, there are many exciting mountain bike trail tours that can be booked with the hosts.

The immediate vicinity offers many other adventurous or outdoor activities such as white-water rafting, hiking, horse riding, dam fishing, golf and bowls. Golfers can choose between an 18-hole championship course or a local 9-hole course that are both adjoining the farm. Local amenities include an arts and crafts route, coffee shops, restaurants, supermarkets and the Drakensberg Boys Choir School where regular concerts are held. Within an hour’s drive, there are game reserves, battlefield sites and good river fishing spots.
