Description

Nooitgedacht Trout Lodge is a luxury lodge nestled on a nature reserve in the heart of South Africa’s most captivating natural wilderness. This is a romantic getaway, a fly fishing paradise, and an invigorating haven for a corporate brainstorm or strategy meeting and an exclusive venue for that intimate small wedding.

Nooitgedacht together with the adjacent estates was declared ‘The Mount Anderson Catchment Nature Reserve’ on the 9th March 1994. The reserve has become the natural habitat of plenty of wildlife including leopard, mountain reed buck, water buck, kudu, bush buck, eland, klipspringer, grey duiker, small cats, and many other wild animals.

The lodge was built in 1992 on the site of the original farmhouse and the old stone barn converted in 1995 to a billiard room and bar.

Catering for a maximum of 20 guests, Nooitgedacht Trout Lodge provides comfortable, stylish accommodation in 9 en-suite bedrooms. 1 suite is a family suite sleeping 4. 4 suites are cottages and directly connected to the main building by a covered veranda and passage. All are luxuriously furnished and 7 have open log fireplaces. Children are always welcomed and babysitters can be provided.

The old dry-stone barn, a remnant of the original farm house, provides an entertainment area with facilities such as a full-size billiard table, satellite television and a well-stocked bar.

Hearty home cooked fare is prepared by dedicated chefs in a traditional open-plan kitchen and served in the congenial dining hall, which is the centre point of country life at Nooitgedacht. The state of the art wine cellar is definitely worthy of a visit! Why not ask our chefs to prepare your catch of the day, fresh from the plentiful waters

Activities in the surrounding area including fly-fishing, game viewing, hiking, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, 4x4 trails, tours of the hatchery, picnics and sailing.
