Description
Otters' Haunt Full Moon Bush Camp is a small and private getaway set above the flood lines of the Vaal river. Leave the hustle and bustle of home and busy lifestyles and experience the river and adventure activities, Vredefort Dome bergland and the quaint town of Parys with its coffee shops, restaurants, antiques and art galleries.
The Bush Camp gets its name from the spectacular full moon moon-rises which are seen from the pool area and koppie. Or if you prefer, just lounge by the lovely rock pool. The camp is popular with outdoor lovers, families who want their children to experience the joys of exploring the island paths and wonders of nature.
There are 3 A-frame thatched cabins in the Bush Camp. The communal social lapa has a fire circle, a kitchen with a freezer, fridge, hot-plate, and kettle, and braai area. The 3 thatched A-frame cabins are Caracal which contains 1 double and 3 single beds, Malachite which contains a 1 double and 1 single bed, and and Pangolin which contains 3 single beds. The 3 cabins are rented as a unit, and have use of a shared ablution facility. There is an additional Cormorant Cabin that sleeps 4 guests.
The entire bush camp including the 3 A-frame Cabins and Cormorant Cabin can be booked out exclusively for a private group of between 8 and 14 people.
The cabins look out over a lawn towards the swimming pool and riverbanks 150 m below. The camp centres on a beautiful rock pool-style swimming pool and it is built around a ‘koppie’ with view of the Vaal River Valley.
Your hosts can tell you all about the area and show you around on the riverbank, or advise about walking and canoeing trails. There is a shaded outlook spot at the river for sundowners, fishing and birdwatching.
