Otters' Haunt is a nature lovers paradise set on the banks of the Vaal River 2km from Parys. The eco-friendly guesthouse overlooks a quiet channel where you can see otters, Nile monitors and waterfowl. You can safely explore the island walking and canoeing trails. Ideal for solitude and a peaceful get away. We are 2 km from Parys and 120 km from Johannesburg and O.R.Tambo International Airport, a convenient stopover.
We are off-the-Eskom grid. We request our guests play their part in managing the solar energy and recycling. Please bring battery powered lights for late nights.
The Otters Den guest house is self-catering , ideal for families, groups, and travelers and has the private use of the swimming pool.
Larger groups can also book the Porcupine Room and Guinea Fowl cottage. If booked independently, the Porcupine Room and Guinea Fowl are both fully equipped for self catering and are separate from the guest house. Suitable for travellers and natures lovers who wish to explore the area. They do not have access to the swimming pool.
There are numerous activities available such as, fly-fishing, bird-watching, rafting and canoeing, mountain biking, Vredefort Dome walks ad talks or island hiking trails.
