Ou Rietdak is sentraal in die Stanford-vallei.

Ons wou graag staproetes in die Stanford vallei verken. Ou Rietdak het ons in staat gestel om Phillipskop, Sandberg reservaat en ander roetes in die omgewing te verken.

Rustig.

Slegs 2.5 km van die trouvenue Beloftebos. Lieflike natuurskoon. Netjies en skoon plaashuis, toegerus met meer as genoeg breekgoed en fasiliteite.

Pragtige ou huis in 'n rustige omgewing.

Ons het heerlik gekuier in die Ou Rietdak Gastehuis. Die dae was effens windering, maar ons kon heerlik stap op die grondpaaie in die omgewing, en het baie lekker om die groot kombuistafel gekuier, en die sonsondergange op die stoep geniet. Die huis kon 'n paar mense baie gemaklik akkommodeer. Net wat ons nodig gehad het na 'n rowwe jaar!

We were delighted to discover this hidden gem. We could not have asked for a better place to celebrate a Birthday with our family. The Host was warm and accommodating. We will definitely be back.

Lekker rustic plaashuis met alles wat nodig is, great swemarea en oorgenoeg slaapplek en spasie.

Nooit met eienaar direk gepraat nie, so kan nie regtig kliëntediens oordeel nie, als was perfek. Enigste wat ek sou verander, is om instruksies te los vir byvoorbeeld alarmstelsel, daar is een, maar nie gesê ons moet aktiveer nie. Sou veiliger gevoel het as ons dit wel kon aansit. Dis 'n afgesonderde plaashuis en vir stadsjapies sou alarm 'n vereiste wees.

Lieflik! Pragtig, skoon, en gemaklik.

Ons was 8 vriende wat hier gebly het, en die enigste slegte ding van ons verblyf was dat dit te kort was. Die huis is ruim, vreeslik skoon en netjies, en het alles wat jy kan nodig kry. Die linne en beddegoed is sag en van goeie gehalte. Ons het selfs die Famous Grumpy Cat ontmoet, en hy was die vriendelikste, skaam kat. Sal beslis weer hier bly!

Lekker huis, maar vreeslik koud. Benodig verwarmers en mens kan doen met selfoonsein.

Ou Rietdak had wonderful top of the range bedding. Snug, crisp, clean.

Our daughter's wedding was at Beloftebos. So Ou Rietdak was perfect accommodation for us. Spacious, clean, comfortable for the group of us. Only 2.5 km from the venue. But would perfect for a tranquil weekend getaway too. Gravel road from Beloftebos to Ou Rietdak not the greatest. Lots of potholes. Coffee and delicious rusks provided. I judge a place on their beds and bedding. This was 5 star. There is an indoor braai in the large kitchen if needed. Every appliance is provided. Even two fridges. Really enjoyed sitting on the stoep with coffee and rusk enjoying the morning peace and quiet and watching the neighbouring sheep frolic across the road. Country life at its best.

Silwerskoon, doodstil, rustig, maar ysig!

Skoon, skoon, skoon! Huis self is net vreeslik koud. Daar is darem 'n verwarmer. Die watersisteem wat na die dak toe moet gaan om brand te voorkom, het nie gewerk nie, so ons het vir veiligheid maar buite gebraai. 'n Huis vol geskiedenis, memorabilia uit vervloë dae, interessant. Kon darem 'n paar turksvye ook pluk - yum! Dankie, vir seker aan te beveel. PS. Dit was net ek en manlief in die grote huis, dink net dit sal vreemd wees om huis met onbekende en vreemde gaste te deel.

Uitstekende waarde vir geld.

Ou Rietdak is 'n pragtige ou plaashuis wat jou sommer laat tuis voel. Die huis is netjies en skoon met baie ruimte. Dit is heerlik om op die stoep te sit en koffie drink.

We enjoyed our stay, very relaxing. Loved the view. Would go back again.

A lovely peaceful out of the way home for a group to relax in.

I booked ou Rietdak with some reservation as I had not much idea if it would suit our group of 8 friends and family. It is about 12 km from Stanford on a dirt road on a peaceful farm. The house is well equipped and even a plunge pool which we really appreciated on the hot days over New Year. We spent many hours chatting and eating at the sociable kitchen table and braai area. We walked through the lovely forest and cycled and relaxed. The house was generously set up with tea and coffee and rusks and wood for the braai. Lorraine was available any time and we all really loved the time there. Recommended if you’re looking for a peaceful space. Very quiet. Star gazing amazing as there are no lights.

Klein bederfies en netheid opreg waardeer. Pragtige uitsig en vars plaaslug is baie geniet. Sal definitief weer terugkom.

The house was very old, a feral cat attacked me and bit through my pants for standing outside.

The house was very old - very old books, keepsakes and breakable items throughout the house - not toddler friendly. A stay at your own risk warning is in the kitchen as well as another saying do not feed the cat. If the owners are aware of the cat they should have it removed as it is not "grumpy" as the sign indicates, it is aggressive. No reception in the house which is not mentioned. The house was freezing and the only source of heat is a small oil heater, in a house with multiple rooms. We all slept in 1 room with the heater to keep warm. The fire place in the kitchen needs to be sprayed down prior to using as I am assuming on a hot day it is a fire risk. The house has been neglected and needs attention. The pictures placed on the site are misleading. If I was aware of the following I would never have booked: No reception, feral cat, insufficient heating, not toddler friendly, no security gates outside the front door - just a latch. Flooding had caused the direct route to the wedding venue to be unusable - if the owners had let me know there was a problem as I have stated it was my intention to be close to the venue due to my children staying behind with a nanny, I would've chosen another venue. In the back yard is a small dilapidated storage facility or barn of sorts, total eye sore. In short the photos do not indicate the reality. A warning should be shared that this is not a toddler-friendly home at all and the owners should be supplying a heat source for each room in winter considering how cold the house is. The fire place in the kitchen wasn't drawing properly at one point which meant that the smoke just filled the kitchen. Opening the back door brought the cat back again who growled and chased me into the house. Water was the only way to remove it. All in all, I would've preferred to book elsewhere, even if it was further to ensure we had access to basic requirements such as reception and warmth without the threat of a feral cat.

Ons het 1 nag in die huis gebly. Dis baie netjies en gemaklik ingerig. Dis baie lekker naby aan Beloftebos waar ons 'n troue bygewoon het. Ek kan dit met gemoedsrus aanbeveel.

Was by 'n troue by Beloftebos en die ligging van Ou Rietdak Gastehuis was perfek vir ons.
