Description

Penwarn Farm Lodge offers rustic yet modern self-catering accommodation, and is located on a tranquil working farm in the foothills of the Southern Drakensberg, within 22 km from the town of Underberg.

Accommodation at Penwarn Farm Lodge comprises 5 uniquely decorated units, which can accommodate between 4 to 8 persons. Each unit features a well-equipped kitchen with the necessary and basic appliances to cook meals, as well as an open-plan living area. In addition, each unit has a TV with selected DStv channels.

The lodge also features a main building which has a communal guest lounge with an open fireplace and a bar area. The lodge also offers a thatched-roof lapa that overlooks the lake, which can be hired for special events such as weddings or other occasions.

The farm is situated in an exquisite valley surrounded by lakes, and borders Highlands Farm, which was established in 1886. Over 3400 hectares of land is farmed by the fifth generation of owners, raising cattle and sheep and planting maize and potatoes for the market. Sharing the grasslands are zebra, hartebeest and blesbok. Birdlife is of abundance and the cranes and wild geese can be spotted from the comfort of the units.

The ambience of the farm is relaxed, rustic, and modern, and is perfect for a variety of occasions including weddings, conferences, family adventures and romantic getaways.

Please note that there is 16 km of gravel road to the lodge. Cell phone signal is weak but we do have a booster and free WiFi in the reception area.
