McGregor is a small village nestled in the mountains of the Western Cape. It is one of the best-restored towns in the area and famous for it's traditional 19th century whitewashed, thatch-roofed cottages surrounded by beautiful vineyards, mountains, apricot trees, olive groves, birdlife and wildlife. It also features resident artists' studios, healing centres such as the well-known Temenos Retreat and is the perfect place for nature lovers to enjoy walks or hikes. It is a very peaceful and safe village, with friendly locals. There are also some lovely coffee shops and restaurants for you to experience some culinary delights and don't forget the Saturday morning market for fresh produce and sweet treats. Robertson is the nearest big town. It is about 15-minutes drive from McGregor and you will pass through it on your way to the Pepper Tree Cottage. The village of McGregor has everything you need - from fresh milk to basic groceries and toiletries. The local winery produces superb wine and olive oil from local farms.
