Prima Rosa is a colonial house in Hartbeesfontein with a focus on art, history and hospitality. It’s a magical place of restfulness and stories to tell. You can look forward to cooking demonstrations, warm hospitality, and personal attention. Both the owners are artists and guests are taken on a journey of old world splendour reminiscent of Karen Blixen's home in the movie, Out of Africa.
Prima Rosa Historical Guest House was built in 1903 during the Anglo Boer War. It is furnished with wooden floors, pressed ceilings, antique light fittings, an exquisite porcelain collection, and décor with an emphasis on Africana. The house has four bedrooms consisting of a double room with an open bathroom, 2 double rooms with a shared bathroom, and an upstairs double room with inter-leading doors to a twin room (great for a family). The bathrooms are fitted with large bath and antique copper and gold pipes. The guest house also has verandas, a dining area, and lounges to relax in.
Guests can choose to do a historical Anglo Boer War tour with an operator, a team building cooking demonstration called "Painting with food", or enjoy an off-road horse ride. All meals are optional and should be arranged prior to booking in. Prima Rosa can be a magical experience when visiting this unusual gem of the North West.
