This is not the first time of staying at Prior Grange Guest Farm when driving from Johannesburg to Cape Town, and it won't be the last. The chalets are very comfortable, and meals (if booked) are delivered to the chalet. The owners are very friendly and go out of their way to ensure great service. There is a fridge in every chalet that can be used for your own food, and it's stocked with drinks for purchase if needed. It's a short gravel road drive (approximately 3 km) from the main road, which is far enough but not too far. A great stopover.

Die diens was vriendelik, warm en professioneel. Die kamer was netjies skoon en het in al ons behoeftes voldoen. Ons het ekstra aandete en ontbyt aangevra, wat in ons kamer bedien was, dit was ongelooflik lekker en meer as genoeg. Ons sal enige tyd weer daar oorslaap en dit met gemoedsrus aanbeveel.

It was outstanding in every way. The attention to detail in all matters - the buildings, gardens, farm, furnishings, food and personal service by Sheryl and Blackie is amazing and ensures a first class stayover.

We have immediately booked two further nights for later this year.

We had a lovely overnight stay en route back to Cape Town.

We stayed in Oval Cottage which was well-appointed and had lovely warm bed linen and electric blankets to combat the freezing winter night. A peaceful, enjoyable overnight stay and the honesty bar were much appreciated, so lovely to have a glass of red wine in front of the fire after a long day's journey. Thank you!

Prior Grange is a fantastic place to stay, friendly, comfortable and convenient. We stayed in Willow Cottage on the edge of the cricket oval. If you enquire beforehand, meals will be delivered to your cottage.

We had a short stop over stay on our way to the Kruger Park. We have stayed at Prior Grange on a number of occassions and is remains a peaceful and comfortable spot in the Karoo.

AS awlays we had a wonderful stay. It was great to have a peaceful walk along the farm roads before retiring for a sundowner at our host's pub followed by a delicious dinner of roast karoo lamb.

Great value for money. Lots to keep kids entertained after a long drive. Worth staying longer than 1 day. Such friendly hosts. A hidden gem.

Oopplan is puik uitgelê. Heerlike sitarea met kaggel vir koue aande. Slaapkamers is goed toegerus met baie gerieflike beddens. Heerlike warm stort. Ontbyt was heerlik en die gasheer baie vriendelik.

The hosts Cheryl and Blackie have the art of accommodation and organisation refined to the last detail. The farm setting is beautiful; access to the N1 quick and easy; if ever travelling that way again, a stay there for me is a must.

Our overnight stay on this exceptionally hospitable guest farm was absolutely fantastic.

This working guest farm with all its interesting history, charming cottages, lovely old trees and scrumptious meals served personally to each cottage by Sheryl and Blackie, its wonderful hosts, is one of those places that, for us, will always stand out above the rest and be remembered for a very long time. This was our first visit and, from the moment we arrived, we knew we had backed a winner. It was perfect and we will be back.

Cheryl and Blacky are warm and welcoming hosts, who served us a delicious dinner and breakfast in our cottage. The little house was so cosy and well equipped, we could easily have stayed longer. As far as constructive criticism is concerned, there were a few small things that could do with some attention: The door (gaps between planks) and windows do not close airtight, and I imagine that it can't be too pleasant on a freezing winters night in the Free State. Our son discovered a millipede with accompanying poop inside his bed (and promptly slept on top of the duvet). Most important was the erratic hot and cold water mix in the shower. It was very difficult to control the temperature, which swung wildly between boiling and freezing. I hope this helps, as Prior Grange is a lovely place to go overnight!
