Description

Rhino River Lodge is a Big 5 safari lodge situated along the shore of the Msunduze River in the southern section of the Zululand Rhino Reserve. This 23,000 hectare private game reserve is located in the very heart of Zululand, an area renowned for its African wildlife and rich cultural heritage. The lodge offers you an intimate and comfortable safari experience, with excellent game viewing and charming accommodation.

Our lodge offers guests a variety of comfortable and attractive accommodation that is perfect for individual travellers, small groups and families looking for a safari escape. The Family Loft Chalets are ideally suited to families and sleep up to 4 people, with a shared bathroom. The Deluxe rooms are set under thatch roofs with a private verandah overlooking the lodge grounds and river-bed below creating the perfect environment for couples looking to take a bush break. There are two private houses on the property, The Cottage and The Homestead which are perfect for families giving them that home-away-from-home feeling, complete with a private swimming pool and lounge areas that overlook the Msundue River.

The main lounge and dining areas at Rhino River Lodge are set high on the banks of the Msunduze River lined with magnificent Sycamore Fig and Fever Trees. A favourite with all of our guests is spending time in our Boma enjoying an evening cocktail around the campfire, swapping stories of their adventures in the bush. These evenings are a magical part of every guest's experience, taking in the smells of the campfire, the sounds of the African night, and the splendour of an unpolluted starry sky. Our kitchen specializes in offering cuisine that features traditional South African flavours dishes and cooking styles and our wine list has been hand-picked to provide our guests with a selection of some of the finest affordable wines that South Africa has to offer.

The swimming pool offers a welcome respite for guests looking to escape the midday heat or to relax and unwind. Morning and afternoon game drives are included in the tariff. Night drives, walking safaris and White Rhino Tracking can be arranged. Our bird life is exceptional with over 350 species recorded.

Accessible within an easy drive are Hluhluwe/Imfolozi and Mkuze National Parks, St Lucia, Cape Vidal, Elephant Interaction, Cheetah Rehabilitation Programme, Crocodile farm Zulu Cultural Village and craft market, Hippo and Croc cruises.
