Description

SANParks Bergplaas Guest House is a self-catering house located on the northern foothills of Soetanysberg. It was originally a stock post in the 1860s on the farm Ruigtefontein and the original house was built in the mid 1950s. In 1979 it was completely destroyed by fire and rebuilt in a more modern style that is still evident today. This land was acquired by SANParks in 2000, being the first acquisition for the newly established Agulhas National Park.

The guest house is situated 36 km from the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse off the Struisbaai/Elim road. The guest house offers a relaxing country setting with endless views of the surrounding countryside.

Bergplaas can accommodate up to 10 guests, and comprises 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms of which 4 are en suite and 1 has been adapted for the mobility challenged, a kitchen, lounge and dining room. Each bedroom contains 2 single beds. The fifth bedroom is an upstairs loft room, that also contains 2 single beds.

The house is equipped with all cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery. Complimentary tea and coffee is provided for your first night stay is supplied. The spacious lounge contains a fireplace. The dining area contains a 10-seater dining table and chairs. Outside, there is a large patio.
