Description
Shikwari Nature Reserve is located on the reserve near Kruger Park and The Panorama Route.
Accommodation consists of 2 camps, namely the 2 Shikwari Suites and the 4 Pangolin Rondavels.
The 6 luxury Shikwari Suites are located in the natural bushveld. Each suite has a private bathroom fitted with an outdoor shower. Other amenities also include a small fridge stocked on request, freshly ground coffee, a French coffee press, quality tea and fresh coffee, and homemade cookies. Toiletries, gowns, towels and bed linen are provided.
The main camp has a licensed bar with a lounge with a full DStv Premium package. Free Wi-Fi is available at the Shikwari Suites' main lounge area and the verandah area.
Guests can relax on the shaded verandah and cool off in the swimming pool. Breakfast and dinner are served on the stoep or deck-boma. There are no self-catering options available at this camp.
The 4 Pangolin Rondavels are a convenient budget option though not graded. The camp is approximately 500m from the main lodge and meals all are served at the Shikwari Suite. The camp has 2 rondavels with a bush bathroom that is fitted with an outdoor shower, covered toilet and basin. Two rondavels share a separate bathroom and an outdoor shower. All bed linen and towels are provided. Guests are required to provide their own swimming towels.
Each rondavel has a ceiling fan, wardrobe, seating area, tea- and coffee-making facilities and a small fridge-freezer.
The kitchenette is equipped with a washing area, gas stove and electric oven. Note guests need to bring ther own table & kitchenware. A boma is available for braai and there is a large braai area with 2 large grids. There is a swimming pool guest are required to bring their own towel for this.
The reserve is home to free-roaming giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, impala, nyala, bushbuck, duiker, steenbok and ostriches, as well as an amazing variety of bird species, especially during spring and summer.
All activities are conducted by third-party suppliers, and guests are not charged extra for this service the rate is the same as the supplier.
Bookings to the Kruger National Park, half-day morning or evening trips to a private Big Five reserve, can be arranged. The Panorama Route with a guide can be arranged as well as treatments at the spa. The reserve is close to various other activities, such as quad biking, Jessica Hippo, the Graskop Gorge Lift and Blyde Boat Cruises.All available to book and payable at the lodge.
