Terrible Experience!

This was by far the worst accomodation I have ever stayed at! I was given a room off on the side of the property, the aircon was not working (after I had specifically asked as it was 38 degrees there) - they did re-gas it on the second day, only to have no electricity for most of the evening, I was then informed that they do not have generators or back up power. When I enquired about the restaurant that is advertised, I was told that you need to tell them before hand that you want to eat there and the lady will prepare the food, there is no restaurant to sit at. When asking for the WiFi password as there is zero signal, I was treated like a criminal! They informed that they do not hand out the password and if I wanted to connect I would need to bring my devices to their office. I travel for business, so I needed to connect my laptop and phone, I am not comfortable handing my valuable items over to people that dont even have the decency to put a shirt on when welcoming new guests to their lodge.

The accommodation was adequate, but I would advise that the travelers should rather book the luxury rooms and not even consider the economy rooms.

I booked the economy room, upon arrival was shown the economy room and the luxury room. The Economy room was not exactly to my liking but I would stay there if I hated no other choice. People state that the rooms are displayed sincerely or the Lekkeslaap web home. They must either be properly shown or not sacrificed. The young lady and I then agreed that I would rather use the deluxe room at no additional cost which I welcomed. What is a better concern is the security of the Lodge, the sliding gate does not function, and there is no fence next to the sliding gate. As another traveler mentioned the lab room ventilation can be annoying if you are in a room closer to the fence, maybe the management can address the lab room to turn off the ventilation if not in use. Otherwise, I see potential for the destination.

Unsatisfied.

Our guys were not happy staying at Steelpoort River Lodge. They were basically staying in little wendy houses with no doors between the sleeping area and the bathroom. We will not book there again.

You forgot that you booked the economy rooms without bathrooms and we upgraded you to rooms with own bathrooms at no extra cost. The sleeping area is 4 m x 3,5 m with concrete floors, fully carpeted with new beds. Only the outside is made of wood, nothing else. But you yourself told us beforehand that the people is full of nonsense and the company are not willing to pay for luxury rooms. Some things in life can not be blamed for our own shortcomings.
