Hi Yandiswa, our sincere apologies for the froggy pond. I did ask our office manager to send out emails to all our guests explaining the drought situation in PE and the fact that we could not operate our pool as we cannot top up enough to run the pumps. We are only entitled to 50 litres of water per day per person and that goes nowhere when you are running a guesthouse. The pool is very old and it was designed back in the day when the pool pump was situated below the sump box of the pool. So when the level drops we can not operate the pump to circulate and clean the pool. We did a costing on bringing in water by tankerloads for the festive season, but the cost of that was more than 3x what we could earn from full occupancy at our small establishment. Thus, I asked our manager to send letters out to all the guests who booked to explain the pool was out of action. Somehow it seems that the email to you was never received and I do apologise profusely for this and I do hope you understand our position from an operational cost perspective. So sorry. The owner and landlady of the lodge are very friendly and hospitable, the place is furnished with everything we needed, even more than we expected, with the large open plan living area. Nicely close to the town and about 5 minutes from the sea and harbour. Will definitely stay there again when I'm in Port Elizabeth.
