The Harold Porter Botanical Gardens is nestled between Mountain and Sea located in the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, home to the most complex biodiversity on earth with different plant species to discover while taking in the peace and serenity of it all. The natural beauty of your surrounding can been seen from the 90 meter high Sandstone peak of the Kogelberg.
Visitors can enjoy the magnificent nature trails and various strenuous hiking trails up into the mountain, the Leopards Kloof trail, allows for walks and climbing wooden ladders, making it more adventurous, while the Disa River trail named after the flowering Disa Orchids, it’s easy to walk and is wheelchair and pram friendly. The trail takes you over the Olive May Porter Bridge where you can enter a wooded area and spot various bird species. The trail then leads you to the picture perfect Disa River Waterfall where the crystal clear waterfall turns to black mass of water in a 16 meter deep pool.
When visiting the Ocean/coastal side of this quaint town, stop at the Stony Point Nature Reserve, its home to one of the largest breeding unique colony of African Penguins in the world, here you are allowed to enjoy watching the flightless seabird in their natural inhabitants, going about their daily activitie
