House Rules
Please note that there is an 8 km sand/gravel road leading to The Hanging Garden. It is suggested that guests should make use of any type of high clearance vehicles (bakkie, SUV, 4x4 vehicle etc.) when travelling on the Marico roads, however, sedan-type vehicles will manage at a slow pace to reach the bushveld farm retreat.
Cellular network quality in the general Marico area varies or is intermittent, depending on the performance of local cellular network towers. Our guests are encouraged to switch off all electrical devices during their stay and connect to & enjoy the splendid natural environment.
Guests are requested to bring swimming towels, torches, personal toiletries, extra blankets or throws if needed, binoculars, walking and/or mountain biking gear.
Rooms not used will be locked. An additional fee of R400 per night is charged by the establishment, if the use of extra facilities/bedroom, linen and amenities are requested as well as any extra guests to be accommodated.
The eco-chalet is powered by solar and gas only. Solar power is dependent on weather conditions. Please take note The Hanging Garden is part of the Marico Biosphere Reserve which supports the Dark Sky Reserve Association thus power supply will be provided daily from 08:00 until 22:00. Guests are encouraged to switch off all electrical devices after 22:00 and enjoy the starry Marico night sky. The specialized Bosch fridge has a storage time of up to 19 hours without power. Please note there is no freezer. In the event of low power availability, the generator backup system may be utilized.
LED lanterns are provided.
Additional wood and ice can be purchased per bag from management. Amenities provided to guests include hand and body soaps, dishwashing liquid, scourers, lanterns, matches, a complimentary stack of wood, and a complimentary supply of ice, tea, coffee, sugar, and milk.
Regrettably, no pets, quad-bikes, motorbikes or loud music are allowed as this is a private and tranquil Eco-Retreat.
