We stayed for Kirkwood Festival, for work, for 3 nights.

Unfortunately, the stay was not a pleasant one for us. There were 4 of us in total. Babs, the host is lovely, so it's no reflection on her, but we were absolutely freezing, it was torrential rain - she went out of her way to accommodate us and brought us lights and food in the torrential rain, but unfortunately due to load shedding, the food was not great and the ones who ate the burgers, didn't feel well afterwards. We did ask for heaters due to it being 2 degrees with tiled floors, but were advised it would use too much electricity. We were working very long hours at the Kirkwood Festival and got no sleep. The hot water was boiling and then baltic, didn't run smoothly, the room light would switch off and not on again sporadically. It was load shedding and ridiculously dark. Perhaps if you want to go somewhere as a backpacker and stay there the whole weekend, that would be great, but for people who like rustic, with no extras. For us, unfortunately, we were shattered and so cold. The road up to the property is about 6 kms, in the rain it was mud with huge holes and even in a Hilux we struggled and it took ages. It would be very beneficial to inform people about that road. It was not pleasant. you are miles away from anywhere. Overall we were very disappointed, tired, hungry, and did not sleep well. In saying this, the host was very kind and I feel bad mentioning the above because she really was lovely. It's a pity we had such a rough 3 nights.
