The Oystercatcher Holiday House overlooks the picturesque Walker Bay and is situated 40 km from Hermanus and only 145 km from Cape Town International Airport. Experience unparalleled whale watching without the hustle and bustle of Hermanus. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of listening to the sounds of whales.
The spacious house sleeps 6 people. There are 3 bedrooms, each with crisp white 100% cotton percale. 2 of the rooms have queen-size beds. The third room has 2 single beds. There are 2 bathrooms, 1 with a shower and the other with a bath. Gas has been installed in the bathroom and shower to ensure that everyone can enjoy a hot bath or shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, conventional oven, fridge with freezer and all other utensils. A built-in braai on the patio, large colour TV please bring your own DStv card, cosy fireplace, and double lock-up garages further ensure a comfortable stay.
There is also a games room with a table tennis table. Bats and balls provided. A dartboard has been installed in the entertainment area, as well as wall-mounted heaters in the second and third bedrooms.
This self-catering beach house is perched on the magnificent cliffs of De Kelders in the shark diving and whale watching hub of Gansbaai. The house itself is located in the second row from beachfront and within a short walking distance of a pristine nature marine reserve with white sandy beaches and large open caves of archaeological interest.
The property offers breathtaking, views of the ocean and mountains less than 1 minute's walk away. On a clear day, guests can even see the whales breach from the comfort of the stoep. De Kelders is renowned for some of the best land-based whale watching in the world during August to November. The whales come so close to the cliff edge that guests can hear them breathing inside the house.
The Oystercatcher is the ideal place from which to explore the Western Cape. It is situated 180 km from Cape Town, 40 km from Hermanus, 20 km from Standford and 5km from Gansbaai Town where fresh line fish is always available at the active harbour. The Winelands are just over an hour's drive away, as are the quaint towns of Baardskeerdersbos, Napier and the southernmost tip of Africa at Cape Augulhas.
