The Ranch Overnight Chalets

Nice surroundings, no road traffic noise like guesthouses in towns.

The room was neatly organized and we appreciated the clean bedding.

Good overnight stop.

As they say in English "rough around the edges", but comfortable and value for money. Would recommend for an overnight stop. Only downside is the road noise.

Conveniently located for an overnight stay. Neglected.

The accommodation information promises "En Suite" rooms, but only one room of Chalet 3 was. Windows and benches are broken. Cobwebs on the ceiling (=floor of the upper room). The pool, slide and children's play park were unusable. General ghost town abandoned and forgotten feeling.

Only overnight if you want to stay cheap.

Very basic units that are fine for one night. Needs some attention and decoration. Camping ground behind chalets looks barren and sandy.

Our weekend wasn't bad, but could have been a lot better without much effort on The Ranch's part.

On arrival, the place looks neat, calm and peaceful. Receptionist was friendly, but did not give any information about activities. We had to go and ask about everything ourselves. We stayed in a "budget" room for the weekend. I understand that these are the cheap rooms, but there isn't even an old hand soap by the sink. We asked about it and they don't provide it. There were also cobwebs in our room above the cupboard by the television, not up in the corner somewhere, but right at eye level where cleaners can easily see and clean. Housekeeping was there the next morning, but cobwebs were still there when we got back to the room. Pools were dirty and green. There is a small pond near the hall, this is also dirty and garbage was floating around there. There is also a "gym" as advertised, but it is completely dilapidated and unusable. The putt putt course was pretty well maintained and we had a great time there. We went on a game drive late Saturday afternoon. It was very pleasant. We saw the wildlife they mentioned including: White springbok, black wildebeest, zebras and moose. The lady who was our guide was very friendly and full of stories and jokes. Wild ride was very fun. In the bar you can order food, pizzas were very tasty and the usual drinks are available. There is also a pool table which is in good condition. We had a pretty good time at The Ranch, but with just a little effort they could make it a much more attractive destination.

Disappointed.

We booked and paid for 2 rooms with good reason. To find out on arrival that they have more luxurious accommodation, but only a single room is available. This is not acceptable at all! It doesn't help you say no extra charges! And then blaming me because it is not acceptable.

Safe and hospitable.

Nice food. Friendly people and safe accommodation. Did not receive instructions on arrival on how to get back to the gate. Just called though and was helped right away.

My brother stayed there for 2 nights.

This place to stay is acceptable if one is traveling and just looking for a bed for the night. The little room is very small, but at least it has a kettle and coffee-making facilities, a bar fridge and a microwave. The air conditioner made a terrible mess on the floor. The bathroom had no soap or other toiletries. The parking space in front of the door has been washed away by rain and has not yet been repaired and the grounds appear somewhat neglected. The pool was clean and a pleasure, but the pond next door's water was particularly dirty. When we got there, the front desk couldn't issue me a receipt. The place to stay is not horrible, but quite expensive for what you get. It is against the N14 and as such convenient, but don't expect too much security.

Helpful, friendly and very comfortable.

The TV did not work, but otherwise it was pleasant accommodation.

Reception was not friendly, I probably expected too much compared to previous bookings. The outside toilets and the pools were dirty.

Was glad that the accommodation was pet friendly. Could take my Maltese puppy with me.

Only boiling water, no cold water in the tap. It's a tiny little room, it reminds of a truck stop. Open wires on the floor. We canceled our 2nd night. The place is a hool and not at all as advertised. The grill was an oven rack! Sorry, but I can't say anything positive about the place!

Only overnight. Very convenient.

We slept over on our way to Port Nolloth. It is exactly halfway. It is easily reachable. Friendly service. Rooms are well equipped, clean, neat and convenient. Swimming pool cooled us down in the heat. Units have air conditioning which was a very big plus!

Quiet atmosphere and very relaxing.

It is a peaceful atmosphere. The people are friendly and the accommodation very comfortable with everything you need for a lovely relaxing break.

Value for money, fantastic with good location and very good customer service makes it excellent.

Lovely, clean, more than adequate for a traveler with good location on the long road to Kleinzee.

Apart from the N14 traffic, of which we were constantly aware, there were no problems and we had a lovely overnight stay in a lovely well-kept place.

Very good value for money.

The Ranch is in urgent need of upgrading, is old and a bit dilapidated. But you get what you pay for and the chalets are excellent value for money. Would I stay there again. Definitely.

Clean, safe and good value for money.

Rooms need maintenance on small things like leaking faucets and clogged shower heads.

Reception and service were disappointing.

Upon our arrival, The Ranch had no idea what we had booked. They couldn't make out an invoice because the book was full. They also could not locate the discussion reference. I am not convinced that the room we were allocated was the one we booked and paid for. The person who received us made no effort to show us the room. He just pointed us more or less where it was and we had to go find it. The room had not been made ready and was neglected and dusty. The lock in the door did not work and we struggled to gain access. It is clear that there has been no interview for a very long time. It may have been a great accommodation option a long time ago, but it certainly isn't anymore. We will definitely not stay there again and will not recommend it either.

Place is not very clean and tidy.

The houses are not very clean and tidy. Grills and pool are dirty. Houses need attention.

The basic needs were met.

Room 3's kettle was terribly dirty with cigarette butts floating in the water. We just didn't use it. The meat supply was apparently terribly limited and we could not enjoy dinner there as we wished. This despite the fact that we indicated that we would like to eat there (with reservation). If good maintenance can be done to the units, the quality and prestige of the resort will improve a lot. Power cords in the room and around the bed are not only unsightly but potentially dangerous. It can also cause a fire hazard. There is also no proper reinforcement above the door to the bathroom. Bricks can easily come loose and fall on one's head.

Neat, clean and affordable accommodation.

Very neat and clean. Everything was in it's place. The only downside was the traffic on the N14 wat nooit ophou nie. Very convenient overnight accommodation on the way to N Namibia or the Northern Cape's flowers.

Good location as an overnight stop for our trip through the Northern Cape.

We got some great rest at The Ranch Overnight Chalet. The little house is well-equipped.

Disappointing.

The photos on the web don't show the true nature of things. The "cut-and-paste" building style creates a very bad impression. No skirtings - dirty mop mark instead. The aircon sounds like a diesel engine. The braai is literally falling apart. There was no soap in the bathrooms. The mosquitoes almost carried us away. Have to say though, the bed was comfortable and the linen was clean.

Comfortable night rest.

Conveniently located between Windhoek and Johannesburg to take a break on such a long journey. The only annoyance were the mosquitoes, especially in the toilet area, but other than that the reception and service were so friendly.

Had a good night's sleep.

Our first room was clean and neat, but very small. For R200 extra we got a lovely unit with everything we need. Conveniently close to the road.

The stay was very nice and it was a peaceful Kalahari relaxation.

Room was clean and tidy but there is not enough hanging space for clothes. Would recommend it.
