One of South Africa’s most unusual hotels, The Turbine Boutique Hotel and Spa, situated on the Thesen Islands in Knysna, offers guests luxurious accommodation options, exceptional cuisine and stunning panoramas. The Turbine Boutique Hotel and Spa was an ambitious project which transformed an old power station into a unique boutique hotel, all the old power station machinery has been lovingly restored and forms an integral part of the hotel’s aesthetics. Boasting world class facilities, the hotel is an excellent destination for dining, downtime, weddings and getting down to business.

Its accommodation comprises 26 rooms and suites; a choice of 17 standard rooms, 6 luxury rooms, a honeymoon suite, and 2 self-catering suites namely the Lagoon Suite and the recently added Canal Suite. Each of the rooms provide luxurious amenities such as a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi, a fully stocked mini-bar, and a tea and coffee station.

Popular with locals as well as holidaymakers and hotel guests, the 90-seater Island Café, overlooking the canal features a terrace and pool deck for al fresco dining and an impressive local and coastal wine list, and the Gastro Pub welcomes and entices patrons with its delicious gastro pub-style fare, craft beer and cocktails.

For business visitors, the hotel provides excellent conference facilities; there are 2 conference rooms, the Boiler Room and the Yellowwood Room, which can each host 20 delegates around tables, or up to 40 if seats are set out cinema-style and free Wi-Fi.

It is also a superb wedding venue; exchange vows in the courtyard or the Island Café, against the magnificent backdrop of the Knysna Lagoon; have the reception in the Island Café and spill out onto the lawn and pool deck; enjoy a couple’s massage in the Spa and spend a night in the romantic honeymoon suite. The Turbine Spa, one of the finest on the Garden Route, is a blissful sanctuary for the ultimate in pampering and offers guests a wide variety of relaxing treatments from massages to facials.
