Description

Umzimkulu River Lodge offers serviced self-catering accommodation on one of the most picturesque bends of the Umzimkulu River in the Southern Drakensburg. It is situated 203 km from Durban and 577 km from Johannesburg, in the foothills of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site.

Accommodation offered includes a Giant Cabin which can accommodate 12 guests, The Bower honeymoon suite, 4 cottages, and 2 units which can accommodate 2 guests in each. All units are equipped for self-catering and are situated just meters from the riverbank, offering stunning views. They all come with log fires and individual braai facilities.

The Mangrove cottage, Woodland Cottage, Giant Cabin and Pied Unit B are pet friendly units.

Honeymooners revel in the privacy of a luxurious suite and private deck and fishermen love it for the unrivaled opportunities to catch rainbow trout along the 2.5 km stretch of river.

The units are serviced once daily in the mornings, excluding Sundays and Public Holidays. Should additional assistance be required, a housekeeper can be arranged in the afternoons for an additional fee.

Activities include fishing of river trout and small dam bass, walking, bird watching, swimming, boating, tubing, the jungle gym, trampoline, and horse riding nearby.

This peaceful valley resort, which is 22 km from Underberg, provides the perfect location for a retreat from city life. Guests can rest and listen to the sound of the river and nature, or spend wholesome outdoor time with family.

Families love it for the unhurried old world country atmosphere with days spent picnicking under the huge oaks on the river island, boulder hopping in Thrombosis Gorge or just “messing about in boats".
