The cottage has solar electric lighting, and is off the Eskom grid, running entirely from solar panels. The cottage can accommodate up to 7 guests and contains 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. Special arrangement can be made for 2 stretchers for children.

The main bedroom is located above the main living area, and contains an extra-length queen-size bed, with a small, Juliette balcony, for you to sit and enjoy the fantastic night skies or even just the peace and quiet after everyone has gone to bed. Watch the sunrise in the east, a rare opportunity, and listen as the valley wakes up. Perfect for a romantic weekend getaway away for two.

The other 2 bedrooms are located below the main living area, like a separate flatlet, with a bathroom between the 2 rooms, great for teenage kids or a separate couple. One of the rooms contains a queen-size bed and a single bed, and the other contains 2 single beds. To get to the main living area above, from the flatlet below means going around the house to the back door.

The cottage has solar electric lighting, a wood fire inside, an outside fire pit, a gas cooker and gas hot water. It has 2 main sitting and eating areas, a front balcony with fantastic views, or a secluded back patio with a built-in braai area, an old Weber kettle braai and fire pit for a more private night-time experience. As there is very little ambient light this can be a great place to observe the bush veldt stars in the night sky and even watch satellites. All doors and windows have newly installed security trellis for your reassurance. Young children need to be fully supervised at all times as there are steep stone steps, steep stairs and balconies; See the pictures.

On-site facilities at Utopia include a large half Olympic-size swimming pool and 2 additional swimming pools that are shallower for children. 2 tennis courts and a putt-putt golf course, both newly laid out. There is the option of inner-tube riding in the river, and many walking trails and bike rides. Obtain an MCSA permit and walk up to the top if the Magailiesburg mountains if you are fit.

Being in the foothills of the mountains, and adjacent to the Mountain Club of South Africa properties, you have peace and quiet and the opportunity for short or long walks in the 120-hectare property or, with a MCSA permit, through an on-site access gate to Tonquani, Cedarberg, Boulders Kloof and the rest of the Magaliesberg mountain range, a UNESCO biosphere reserve. The cottage is an easy 90-minute drive from Randburg or Pretoria East.
