Wild Ivory Eco Lodge is a Big Five game lodge situated in Welgevonden Game Reserve in the Limpopo Province. This exclusive tented bush lodge is located in a lovely bushveld area in the western section of the well-established Big Five game reserve, right in the heart of the UNESCO Waterberg Biosphere Reserve. The lodge is an ideal destination for a wildlife and photographic safari experience.

The lodge is elevated and overlooks a wooded plain and a private waterhole, and allows for beautiful and uninterrupted views of the reserve, right up to the Waterberg escarpment far into the distance. In Summer watch spectacular electrical thunderstorms roll in, and at night star gaze in wonder at the magnificent milky way. Wild Ivory is an eco-friendly lodge, and has a low impact on the environment.

Guests are accommodated in luxury tents with beautiful views and spacious, well-appointed bathrooms. Large double beds and outside loungers allow guests to relax in comfort in a wilderness setting. From the main lodge follow the pathway to a private, luxury tent. The tents are elevated, and each has their own private patio with loungers, allowing for magnificent views over the reserve below. Each tent is well designed with a special shaded roof structure and shade-netted window openings, allowing free air flow for natural temperature control. Each tent features a secluded outside shower offering uninterrupted bush views.

The main lodge boasts a comfortable lounge and reception area with a large outside viewing deck and a swimming pool overlooking a private water hole below. The lodge is completely unfenced and therefore offers guests a wild in-the-bush experience. During their stay guests are treated to traditional meals which are prepared by the talented chef. Meals are served at the main lodge where guests can keep an eye on the waterhole while enjoying their dinner. Self-catering packages are also available for those who wish to do their own thing.

The lodge was built using eco-friendly, ‘green’ products and runs off solar power. The lodge blends into the surrounds. All plants and consumables used for the construction and running of the lodge are eco-friendly, and no hard woods were used. Even the sewerage system is eco-friendly. The nearby borehole supplies clear water for the lodge’s needs.

The lodge is situated in the western section of the Welgevonden Game Reserve where there is an abundance of plains game, which in turn attracts a number of predatory species from lion to jackal. Apart from the Big Five, guests can also enjoy over 50 species of mammal and more than 3000 bird species. The reserve is also well known for its rhino and cheetah sightings.
