Northlands Girls' High School

Northlands Girls' High School (NGHS), originally known as Durban North High School, is a public high school for girls in Durban North, KwaZulu-Natal. The English medium school caters for 700 girls from Grade 8 to Grade 12. Northlands Girls' High School has been rated as one of the Top 25 Public High Schools in South Africa and has been officially recognised as an Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Circle of Excellence School. The brother school is Northwood School for Boys.

HERITAGE

Founded in 1949, Durban North High School was the first secondary school to be built in Durban North and housed 215 boys and girls. In 1953, the Department of Education decided to split the boys and girls classes and Northlands Girls’ High School was established.

ACADEMICS

Northlands Girls' High School prides itself on a 100% Matric pass rate for 2014. The school's motto is Quisque Sibi Verus which means “To Thine Own Self Be True.”
