Okay, so it’s not 100% free. You still have to pay for the ticket. But at R250 for a weekend pass that includes as much FREE wine as you want, who can really complain? It’s for this reason and more that we suggest heading to the banks of the Breede River for some fun in the sun over the weekend of 17 – 19 October 2014, when the Robertson Wine on the River festival descends on this typically quiet wine-farming town. The river banks will explode in a celebration of good food, great wine, and toe-tapping entertainment on the riverside Goudmyn farm between Robertson and Bonnievale.

What can I expect?

setting 2

You can look forward to tasting 300 wines from over 45 wineries from the wine-making towns of Ashton, McGregor, Bonnievale, and Robertson. As wine will be on sale at cellar door prices, it’s a great time to stock up on all of your favourites, from easy drinking wines to fancy labels. There’ll also be a surplus of food to line your stomachs, a farmer’s market to explore, and live jazz and blues music to set the scene. A leisurely cruise down the river is simply a must where you can sip on a cool glass of Shiraz, Chardonnay, and MCC. Don’t forget the big sport screens, sprawling lawns for riverside picnics, and plenty of local produce to fill your basket…

For the whole family

page

The Robertson Wine on the River festival is not just for adults. There will be a wide array of children’s activities available, making it a fun family affair. Activities from horse riding and colouring, to jumping castles, and face painting run on a “pay as you play” system, and will keep the little ones busy while you savour your favourite glass of vino!

Do away with the desginated driver!

Battling ching chong cha for desginated driver will be a thing of the past. The festival has organised a FREE shuttle service to transport you and your friends to and from the festival and the towns of Robertson, Montagu, and Bonnievale, as part of the Robertson Wine Valley’s “TASTE RESPONSIBLE” campaign. For those who do drive, parking spots will be clearly signposted en-route. Check out the shuttle schedule.
