ABOUT BLOUBERGSTRAND, SOUTH AFRICA: Bloubergstrand (meaning "blue mountain beach") is a suburb of Cape Town in the Western Cape. It is located on the edge of Table Bay, about 25km to the north of the Cape Town city centre, and has acquired its name because of the spectacular view of Table Mountain that can be seen from the beach here. This view is the classic picture-postcard impression of Table Mountain standing tall and blue over Table Bay.Bloubergstrand has a long white sandy beach on the Atlantic Ocean, with a few rocky outcrops where black mussels are found. The water is cold due to the Benguela current, but the beach is popular with surfers and the bay on the west side of Bloubergstrand has become a popular kitesurfing spot due to the constant trade wind bringing in 1 to 3m swells for most of the year.
