Since 2009, the official name of the city is actually "Mbombela", but since the old name was still used for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, most people have continued to refer to it as "Nelspruit". Over the next few years the local signage, including those for guesthouses and hotels in Nelspruit, will all have to be changed to Mbombela.
