Conversely, a five minute walk takes one to the Struben Dam, situated on the meandering Waterkloof Spruit. This 11 hectare bird sanctuary is ideal for bird watching and fishing, as the dam is stocked with Bass, Carp and Barbel. As with the best things in life, admission is free! Whether you choose to bird watch, fish or simply relax on a blanket with a good book, a visit to the Struben Dam is guaranteed to relax anyone.
Your hosts, Johan and Danél Muller, will offer you the warmest South African welcome! 40 on Ilkey has ten beautifully appointed bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom. Warm wooden floors and décor in shades of honey are completed by comfortable beds with crisp percale linen. Each room is fully serviced and stocked with tea, coffee and biscuits.
Sumptuous breakfasts are served in the open plan dining room and lounge. The winter chill is kept at bay by a roaring log fire and, during summer, one is able to enjoy the scented rose garden. Picnic baskets, lunch boxes and dinners are available upon request.
No need to miss your favourite show - there's TV with DSTV , as well as internet facilities and a fax machine for business guests' convenience.
Just off the N1 near to the CSIR, 40 on Ilkey couldn't be more conveniently located, with spacious and secure parking. In the unlikely event of a medical emergency, the Faerie Glen Hospital is situated nearby.
