Welcome to Ardmore Guest Farm, a 3-star guest house accommodation in Drakensberg. You can make a booking online with TravelGround.com.
Ardmore provides cosy farm style accommodation, with a dinner, bed and breakfast service. We have a total of 9 units, situated either in one of the original renovated thatch rondawels or in one of our mountain view thatch cottages. All are en-suite and have a wall fan, tea/coffee making facility and a wood fireplace (firewood is provided free of charge)
Our guests can choose between:-
# “GARDEN VIEW RONDAWELS”– a large round thatch rondawel with a queen bed, a log fireplace, a couch, a wall fan ,a fridge and an en suite with a bath, a separate shower and a wall heater.
# “MOUNTAIN VIEW COTTAGES” with 1, 2 (2 en-suites) or 3 (2 en-suites) double bedrooms, some with multiple beds. The main bedroom has a 4 poster queen bed, each main en suite has a wall heater, a bath and a separate shower. A spacious lounge with a fridge and a log fireplace opens onto a large covered verandah.
Large bedrooms, heated bathrooms and bedrooms, log fires and a full time chef are all part of the “Ardmore Scene”. Your hosts are the owners, Paul and Sue Ross, who stay in a separate dwelling. We had guests from over 35 countries last year.
Dining: Wake up to a traditional farmhouse breakfast (full English) overlooking Ardmore’s extensive garden. Snacks and drinks can be ordered in our tea garden. Join the other guests for a lanternlit, relaxed, unpretentious four-course dinner with complimentary wine served in our glass-walled, Yellowwood dining room (dress informal). Coffee/tea is served in the lounge around the fireplace after supper. Guests usually gather in the cosy pub or in the lounge prior to supper, (you are welcome to bring your own drinks).
On the farm there is a swimming pool, a farm dam which is good for bass fishing and a few mountain bikes for the more adventurous. There is also a local craft shop with Amangwe beads and basketwork; a weaving business called African Loom where you can see weaving done daily; and a gallery exhibiting the internationally reknown Ardmore Ceramic art.
In the Champagne Valley there is great hiking trails. There are 2 golf courses within 15 minutes of Ardmore, as well as tennis, river rafting, canopy tours, quad biking, bird watching, trout and bass fishing and horse riding. Local places of interest: include Spioenkop battlefield, Bushman paintings, Spioenkop Game Reserve (where you can ride horses amongst rhino and giraffe), the Drakensberg Boy’s Choir School, a Falconry display centre, Tugela Falls, helicopter flips and more.
