The original homestead was built over 100 years ago. It has recently been renovated and upgraded to become an extremely comfortable guest house with friendly staff and good service. This gracious guest house is situated close to all amenities in Middelburg. Restaurants are within walking distance of the guest house. The Midmed private hospital and Banks are conveniently close to the guest house.
BREAKFAST & DINING:
It is a homely guest house with a landscaped garden and sparkling swimming pool. Enjoy a healthy English breakfast every morning in the dining room or on the veranda whilst listening to chatty birds in the garden. Dinners are available from Mondays to Thursdays. Booking is essential. We serve home made meals in the traditional South African way. Nothing can beat a home cooked meal!
ACTIVITIES & ATTRACTIONS:
About 10km from the guest house is the historical village, Botshabelo. The word means “place of shelter”. The Town Council built a traditional, open air museum at Botshabelo and Ndebele people still live there today, in the traditional cultural villages. The village is worth a visit.
Middelburg has a few places of interest to visit. Proclaimed a historical monument, the White Church is a true landmark in Middelburg, due to its size and architectural design. British soldiers used it during the Anglo Boer War, which explains why it did not get damaged like so many other churches during that time.
The old Middelburg Railway Station was built in 1890 when Paul Kruger and Portugal entered into an agreement to develop a railway line between Pretoria and Maputo. The railway station is still in use today.
