When you first come upon Kronenhoff in the leafy town of Kirkwood, you are met by their beautiful front gate and classical Cape Dutch architecture. As you go around back you are met by the lovely front desk ladies and into their modern lounge. You walk across the green lawn to your spotless room and can take a dip in their "beach" pool, have a stroll through citrus groves, or relax at the bar from your day of game watching at the Addo Elephant park. The hosts, Jurie and Hendrien, are fountains of knowledge about this area of South Africa and wonderful story tellers. The food is delicious and people drive from all around just to go to the first class restaurant on site. Altogether, what a wonderful stay

After some two years we returned to the region for our annual holiday and spent a night at Kronenhoff on our way to Cape Town. Kronenhoff and its charming hosts along with their ever so friendly staff was once again the star performers. The food seemed even better than before and the new rooms offered superb accommodation. Certainly an establishment that offers services way beyond what one would expect in a small rural town. Highly recommended

We stayed at Kronenhoff as our base for Port Elizabeth while we were touring for the World Cup, I've got nothing but good things to say. The accommodation is excellent, spacious and spotlessly clean. Your hosts Jurie and Hendrien offer a very personal touch - they helped us out a lot while we were there organising things for us. Their staff were also very friendly and helpful, particularly in the restaurant - we had particular requirements where food is concerned and the chefs coped with this brilliantly. No hesitation in recommending this place to anyone considering staying there - you will be looked after in comfort.

What a great place! Our room was huge and with everything anyone could want. There was also a pool and a gym. The breakfast and dinner were top quality as were the staff.

After another visit to this excellent establishment, my advice to all travellers visiting the Eastern Cape of South Africa is simple: Plan your trip to include the little town of Kirkwood and stay over at Kronenhoff. You'll thank me for the advice. From there you can explore the Sunday's River Valley and take the pleasant drive to the Addo National Elephant Park.
As for the accomodation, our hosts have obviously taken personal pride in creating an comfortable home-from-home with every convenience where the traveller can relax and enjoy. The rooms are spacious, the beds are luxurious, the furniture is stylish and comfortable, every room has a well-stocked bar fridge and a welcoming carafe of port, every room has a full bathroom en suite, with modern bath, toilet and basins and a shower like a waterfall. Our bathroom included a bidet, an uncommon luxury in South Africa. I recently spent a few nights in a five-star castle in Ireland, and the accommodation was as not as good as Kronenhoff. The restaurant is spacious and the menu is large. A la carte, except for breakfast, which is a delicious buffet presenting a full English breakfast plus extras. The selection of drinks in the comfortable bar is impressive. And your jovial hosts will really take all the trouble needed to see that you are happy and comfortable. This was the second time we stayed at Kronenhoff. It was such a great experience we had to come back again!! Beautiful rooms, each one is unique. Restaurant was delicious & very friendly staff. Jurie & Hendrien are very personable & they care about their guests. Each night they would visit the tables in the dining room to check on their guests & see how their day was spent. Jurie was a great story teller & we really enjoyed learning about the history of Kirkwood. Kronenhoff is also very close to Addo Elephant Park, as well as the Addo Ranch & the Daniell Cheetah Farm - where else can you cuddle a lion cub for your 30th birthday!!?? There's no shortage of things to do & see! No doubt, we'll be back again!

We chose to stay here so that we could visit the Addo elephant park and also to relax for a couple of days. The accommodation was superb and we had all that we needed for comfort. The owners and staff made us very welcome and we enjoyed good meals in the restaurant. It would be somewhere to visit again.
