My stay was good except for the poor quality of the hotel. Thanks for everything.

I had a good stay, very quiet, but I was not happy with the condition of the hotel. It's an old hotel and the beds are of low quality. I didn't expect such a bed, especially today. The worst part is the lack of safety for my car. I was not comfortable for those 3 days. You do not have garages or car ports in case of car theft; it was outside. Also, if you go out during the day, there is a possibility that you will have no parking at all when you come back.

Unpleasant, the bar is massive and played loud music till early hours in the morning.

They couldn't find our reservation, or our deposit. The first time I have had a bad experience with my bookings.

Baie lekker. JBay is 'n heerlike kuier dorp.

Puik. Die diens is skitterend! Die verblyf is baie goed geleë en jy kan enige plek kom sonder om werklik jou voertuig te gebruik.

Very nice. JBay is a lovely town to visit.

Great. The service is brilliant! The accommodation is very well located and you can get anywhere without actually using your vehicle.

Gerieflik en skoon, maar sal nie weer hier kom kuier nie.

Skoon hotel, maar verskriklike geraas van die straat en die hotel se kroeg. Baie warm in Desember, waaier stukkend. Gerieflik aangesien naby aan die see en kuierplekke, maar glad nie lekker geslaap nie.

Comfortable and clean, but would not visit again.

Clean hotel, but terrible noise from the street and the hotel bar. Very hot in December, fan broken. Comfortable as it is close to the sea and places to visit, but I didn't sleep well at all.

Terrible.

Not a nice stay at all. The hotel has a pub/tavern inside. Rooms not clean at all. The surface, fridge doors, and side pedestals had dirty brown marks. We had to sort of deep clean/wipe off those in order to put our stuff. Toilets not kept fresh, urine smell that won't go away. We had to ask for clean towels and bed changing. We were told that rooms are not cleaned daily. The cleaners come every second day. I am sorry, that is disgusting considering the amount we paid. The name should change from Savoy Hotel to Motel because there is no hotel feel/service at all. The bed was so uncomfortable. The environment is not clean, there is always a smoke/cigarette smell around. Carpets are filthy. No WiFi. Everything was just 0/10. We wished we had booked a guesthouse instead.

Savoy Hotel 's response

Hi Luthando

It is never pleasant to receive a complaint of this magnitude. While we are open to criticism, the accusations made are not entirely true. The said client stayed at the Savoy on the 15th of December, 23. At that time, the hotel still had free unoccupied rooms to which we could have moved the people to, if only they mentioned that they were unhappy. Considering it was the commencement of the festive season, we thought we were doing well by arranging music for the enjoyment of all patrons. Some appreciate the gesture, others complain. Our rooms are serviced daily unless specifically asked not to do so. We let this specific room to many people during this festive period without any complaints. We have also had many of your clients stay in our rooms without any issues. Nonetheless, we have filed a formal complaint with our housekeeping division to investigate. What complicates the issue slightly is that the complaint was made three weeks ago. Our aim is to have happy customers, and we strive to provide a good service all-round. We offer additional amenities for the enjoyment of all our guests, although I must add, at a significant cost. We are sorry to have received such a complaint and will continue with our efforts to do better.

Regards,
Braam Lamprecht

Poor experience.

Room was tidy but the following did not work : 1. TV - they did send Carlos out to try to fix - but it was clear that this room had not been used for a long time and the TV had not worked for a long time - we later got the WIFI code used for my laptop. 2. Nowhere in any advertisement about SAVOY did I read about a "life band" every Saturday night - from 8 to 1 in the morning and it was deafening - the normal use according to the manager, but I would NOT have booked if I had didn't know 3. I felt totally unsafe to move out of my room - there were constantly guests passing by in the corridor in front of my room - shouting at each other and talking loudly after 1 to about 3:30 - so I didn't sleep at all. There was no one to call to silence the guests. 4. I ordered something from the menu - which didn't taste good at all - (Macaroni and cheese) and developed slight nausea. 5. However, the night management who checked me in about 5 hours later was very friendly.
