Saxon Lodge is a bed & breakfast guesthouse situated in Gansbaai, the world’s Great White Shark capital, in the Western Cape. A short, beautiful, 2 hour drive from Cape Town and Cape Town International airport and an hour from L’Agulhas, the southern-most tip of Africa. This makes Saxon Lodge a great central point for exploring the Cape Overberg and its natural bounty

Saxon Lodge, perched majestically above the Old Harbour in Gansbaai, rewards you with uninterrupted views of Walker Bay and the Overberg mountains. Guests have the opportunity to observe a working harbour in action as trawler boats leave and return with their catch. The lodge is owner run and is well managed providing you with a true sense of privacy and security.

With almost all of the conveniences of modern day life, Saxon lodge offers you a real “home from home” experience, with 9 luxury en-suite rooms to choose from. We have double and twin rooms and 2 family suites for families or groups travelling together. For the smaller budget we have a comfortable economy room, which sleeps up to 3 people.

The private, well stocked residents’ bar, The Saxon Arms, provides privacy and exclusivity for guests to enjoy and share their experiences and space with each other. The Saxon Restaurant has become a much talked about culinary experience, with Caron’s signature mussel pot stealing the show every time and the desserts following close behind. Menus are based on the fresh produce available to us on the day. Indoor braai’s are a hot favourite and very social and interactive. We need to know by the latest 14H00 on the day whether you will be joining us for dinner.

Other facilities include a swimming pool, central lounge with large format TV and full DSTV, FREE WIFI, business facilities, on-site parking and same day laundry service. It is commonplace to see the Southern Right Whales frolicking in the bay during their season here and the sunsets are something to behold!!

The Gansbaai / Overberg area offers a range of activities from Whale watching in season and cage diving or boat based viewing of Great White sharks all year round to nearby local, superb wine and beer tasting, bird watching, colourful local restaurants, hiking or just relaxing, to extreme sports like Paragliding and 4X4 as well as Quad bikes and Mountain Biking.
