Welcome to the Hout Bay Harbour attraction page - in addition to guides like this article we also list a wide range of hotels, B&B's, guesthouses and self-catering establishments. Please view our Cape Town page if you're looking for
Cape Town accommodation. This quaint Hout Bay fishing harbour is the Peninsula's main source of crayfish (rock lobster), although a lot of Snoek is also caught and sold here between June and August. The boats in the harbour are an odd mix of small weather worn working vessels and luxurious leisure craft. The harbour also features one of the Cape Peninsula's most sought after fish-and-chip take away shops – 'Fish on the Rocks' – and the ever popular Mariner's wharf complex.
There are many boat tours and charter services available from Hout Bay Harbour. Sunset cruises are available all the way to the V&A waterfront (about 20km) or throughout the day to the much closer Duiker Island. Deep sea game fishing charters are also available, but these often need to be planned in advance.
