Stellenbosch, Oom Sammie Se Wi
Welcome to the Oom Samie se Winkel attraction page - in addition to guides like this post we also list a wide selection of hotels, B&B's, guesthouses and self-catering establishments. Please take a look at our Stellenbosch page if you're looking for
Stellenbosch accommodation. Oom Samie se Winkel (meaning “Uncle Sammy's Shop”) is a store that is kept in the Victorian style, and operates the same way now as it did then. The store has been a Stellenbosch institution since 1904 and is now a national monument.
The shop is a popular tourist attraction because it stocks rare items in the modern world – items such as sticky toffee, boiled sweets and authentic old century butter churns. The shop also stocks rare antiques and traditional South African biltong (a dried spiced meat similar to jerky).
Oom Samie's also has an adjoining restaurant (the Koffiehuis or the coffee house) and sells a selection of timeless wines.
Looking for more than just information? We also list a great range of
South Africa accommodation on our website. Let us know where you would like to visit!
