Richmond House self-catering Cottages comprise 3 fully-equipped, upmarket units, each with its own ambiance and decor theme. The cottages nestle amidst indigenous Eastern Cape bush on a large historic (1840) view site estate, and from parts of the property there are spectacular, unmatched views of the Kowie River and sea. And it's just a quick walk to both!
The cottages accommodate between 2 and 4 persons, are generously fitted, comfortably furnished and serviced on weekdays. A laundry service is included in the tariff; continental breakfasts are an optional extra. Off-street secure parking is offered. Regrettably, no pets or children under 6 years allowed.
Ship Ahoy and Fig Tree Cottages: 2 bedrooms each - 1 with 2 single beds and other bedroom with double/single or optional king-sized arrangement. One full bathroom (bath and shower) and an open-plan kitchen/dining/living-room area with fireplace. Both cottages also have an outdoor patio and an extra shower open to trees and stars.
Sandymount Cottage: this is a romantic bedsitter, with a king-sized bed in the living space. The bathroom has a shower only; both kitchen and bathroom are well designed. There is a covered verandah.
There are TVs, Weber braai's and heaters in, or available to, each cottage.
Amenities in and around Port Alfred, the heart of the Sunshine Coast: the beautiful Kowie River and 2 Blue Flag beaches; all river and beach sports, golf (links course in PA), game and nature reserves, historic villages (Bathurst just 14km away and Grahamstown 60km).
Activities on Richmond House property itself: a peaceful getaway surrounded by bush and birdsong is what our guests will enjoy, but there is also a private Museum and Music Room on view to our guests. (The Museum houses the history and salvaged artefacts of what was Cock's Castle (1840). Soirees take place there regularly.) A billiard room and croquet are also on offer.
