Description

Canyon Village is nestled below the foot of a sweeping rock face in Gondwana Canyon Park, 27 km from the Fish River Canyon in Namibia. Quiver trees, Nama culture and a rugged landscape characterise Canyon Village, with its stone and thatch chalets positioned in a horse-shoe design around the quiver trees.

Comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation is offered in 42 chalets. Each open-plan chalet has an en-suite shower and is equipped with air-conditioning and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi. Each chalet has a small verandah where one can relax and enjoy the view.

The thatched central area serves as a restaurant, bar, lounge, and reception area. A cart, drawn by a team of mules, waits outside, conveying luggage to the chalets. The history of southern Namibia is depicted in murals on the restaurant’s wall and a colorful and lively rendition of life in the golden time of the missions graces the wall in the reception area. The buffet area is furnished with an ox wagon with hundreds of years of history ingrained in its wood, and a well-preserved horse cart has been placed among the boulders in the cozy bar.

Canyon Village offers drives and walks in Gondwana Canyon Park, as well as a swimming pool, ideal for those hot summer days. The excursions, drives, and walks can be booked at reception, for an additional charge. Guests are invited to wrap up the day with a short excursion to the ‘local’ mountain, where one can have a drink and watch the sun go down.
