- Natural Moments Bush Camp & Diving
'Sodwana' means 'Little Paradise On Its Own' in Zulu, and truly is a paradise for everyone with an interest in the ocean and great outdoors.
Marine life in Sodwana is healthy and invites many divers and snorkelers to view its beauty. Underwater visibility is on average 12-15 meters and can exceed 40 meters! Beautiful brightly coloured coral reefs, crustaceans, fish, manta-rays, dolphins, whale-sharks, visiting ragged tooth sharks and humpback whales, Sodwana is well deserving of its World Heritage status. For technical divers at depths of over 100 meters the pre-historic Coelacanth can be found. Annual events include the Bill Fish, OET and Myn Manne fishing competitions and the underwater photographic shootout.
Our little village also offers interesting shops, art galleries, bakeries, bars and restaurants. You can join a quad biking tour to Lake Sibaya or glide over our bay in a microlight. There is so much to do in and around our village. Lying just south of Mozambique on the South African East Coast, Sodwana Bay lies within the Isimangaliso Wetland Park. To the North is Kosi Bay and to the South is Cape Vidal and St Lucia. The Wetland Park has a large and varied biodiversity encompassing many ecosystems, coral reefs, wetlands, beaches, subtropical dune forests and savannah, and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Wetland Park is the third largest protected area in South Africa.
