Description
Royston Hall Historical Guest House is a stately Victorian manor house in Umtentweni. It is listed by the National Historical Council as a historical building. The house nestles in its own small private Nature Reserve and overlooks the Umzimkulu Estuary with the Indian Ocean twinkling in the distance.
Accommodation is offered in 7 suites which can accommodate 2 guests in each suite and has an en-suite bathroom each fitted with a shower, toilet and basin while Suite No.5 is fitted with both a bath and shower en-suite bathroom. One Single room is available with an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet and basin. Amenities include a TV, Wi-Fi, a bar fridge, microwave, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Some suites boast a fireplace, and patio or balcony.
The cool formal sitting room is great for curling up with a good book or socializing, and there is a second African-themed 'Pajama Lounge' on the first floor.
The large swimming pool looks down from the deck over the tall indigenous coastal dune forest. The wrap-around Victorian verandah is where breakfast is served in good weather, or alternatively in the formal dining room.
The guest house sports 208 species on our bird list. It is easy to imagine yourself inside a giant aviary with no fences. Birding groups are welcome and can enquire for special rates.
The guest house is situated 118 km down the N2 South from Durban, and 2.3 km from the Umtentweni swimming beach. It is close to all amenities and 9 world-class golf courses.
