Description

Stone House Farm Stay is situated in the beautiful highlands of Barkly East in the Eastern Cape Drakensberg. Set besides the main farm house, the farm is located 15 km from town, with access to amenities such as restaurants, shops, and a golf course.

An airfield or port, as well as a 4x4 shuttle is available to guests.

The cottage is set in an old stone building that used to be a grain and salt room, built in 1912. The first main road in the area used to run right by the house and cottage, towards the shed. The cottage offers a farm-style rustic setting.

The cottage is situated right beside the main farm house and can accommodate 4 guests in 2 bedrooms. The first bedroom contains a double bed and the second bedroom has 2 single beds. The bathroom is fitted with a bath.

The kitchen is equipped for self-catering with a fridge-freezer, an oven and gas stove, and a microwave, as well as a dining table and chairs. There is no cellphone reception, however free Wi-Fi is available. A gas geyser supplies hot water to the bathroom and kitchen.

The property is right below the tar road, well suited for all types of visitors who enjoy a farm environment. There are CCTV cameras for safety purposes. Guests can explore the farm, or book guided fly fishing and day hikes. Winters can be extreme, with temperatures falling well below zero up to minus 10-15. A gas heater is supplied for those icy mountain days.

Fly fishing, wild trout fishing, exploring the Rock Art, and mountain biking are some of the activities available in the beautiful mountains.
