Description

The Trailhouse consists of The Studio which is fully self-catering, and 3 individual rooms in the guesthouse, which are not self-catering. The complex is tucked away at the foot of the Kogelberg Mountains in Betty's Bay and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean in the distance. It is down-to-earth and close to nature and offers comfortable accommodation.

The Studio is a fully self-catering, detached, and open-plan unit. It is situated upstairs and offers amazing sea and mountain views, as well as a gas braai for the front deck.

The guesthouse is on ground level, and offers 3 individually booked, en-suite bedrooms, with a sea or mountain view. The facilities include a dining room with a fridge-freezer, microwave, cutlery, and crockery, as well as an indoor fireplace, which is shared and thus available to all rooms. There is no kitchen. There are outdoor braai areas in the garden for guests to use. Rooms can be booked individually or all three rooms in the guesthouse can be booked to ensure that it is not shared with others.

There is free Wi-Fi, except during loadshedding. Charging globes are fitted in some of the light fittings and an additional emergency light is provided in each room. We do not have backup power facilities for the whole establishment but make provision for essentials as far as possible. The Trailhouse does, unfortunately, not accommodate pets.

Rod's Hiking Trail starts 50 m from the house and leads through the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom, home to one of the planet's most complex biodiversities and a World Heritage Site, to the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens with various indigenous plants and activities.

The guest house is within close proximity to the village centre and a main beach, where Oystercatchers and many other sea birds can be seen.

Betty's Bay and the surrounding area offer a number of great activities and attractions. It is a hiker's paradise with a host of marine life, birdlife, and plant species, attracting nature lovers. Many bike trails are found in the area. Wine estates, markets, farm stalls, golf courses, nature reserves, unspoiled beaches, zip-line and rafting adventures, and The African Penguin Colony are some of the local attractions.
