Description

Tierfontein Rondawel is situated on a lily pond with beautiful views out across the valley and a very tranquil atmosphere. The unit is just 5 km outside of Baardskeerdersbos and is a birdwatcher's paradise with many endemics in the garden and arboretum, and easy hikes through pristine fynbos and nature.

The rondavel is a self-catering unit for 2 people seeing tranquillity in nature. It features a verandah with lovely views, and a firepit and braai for outdoor cooking. The front door leads into the bedroom with a queen-size bed, lounge, and en-suite bathroom with a gas-heated shower, basin and toilet. Linen and towels are provided.

The kitchen is in a separate building adjacent to the patio with large boathouse doors. There is also a daybed and dining table. The fridge is electric, there is a 2-plate gas stove, and there is a power source for charging devices. The rest of the rondavel relies sufficiently on solar lights, which are provided, oil lamps and candles. The routine set-up for the rondavel includes water-wise sanitation, recycling and composting.

The farm has beautiful walking trails, an arboretum and a gorge with a small indigenous forest as well as a deck at the waterfall. Along the route is a plunge pool in amongst the fynbos for guests to use. The birding is fantastic and the clearing of invasive aliens is a full-time focus.

The unit is aimed at those who would like to immerse in the beauty and peace, although it is also close to beaches, wine farms and historical towns. The fynbos is excellent for botanically minded guests with many endangered and red data species and much diversity. It is an excellent getaway for nature lovers.

As the rondawel is in a nature reserve, we regret that no pets are allowed.
